A short route with named locations
The Bonaventure Historical Society places songwriter Johnny Mercer in Section H, Lot 48. Its notable-sites guide also identifies Gracie Watson and explains the people and memorials behind other frequently requested stops. Use those section references with the map. The “Bird Girl” statue associated with Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is not at Bonaventure; the original is held by Telfair Museums.
Surfaces, heat and respect
Paved cemetery roads do not describe the whole visit. The Society notes dirt and gravel paths. Stay on roads and paths and outside burial plots. This is an active cemetery, not a film set.
There is little value in rushing here between two fixed downtown reservations. A visit works better as a dedicated stop by car or as a tour with transportation. Check the city page before departure for closures or changed hours.

Self-guide for a flexible, low-cost visit. Choose a walking tour for historical interpretation. Choose a cart when the site's scale, heat or long distances would otherwise cut the visit short. In every case, the 5 p.m. city closing time controls.
